Frank N. Jones is a Professor at Eastern Michigan University in the Coatings Research Institute and Principal of Coatings Consulting Services, LLC. After twenty years of industrial research and management in the fields of polymers and paints, he entered academia in 1983 as Chair of the Department of Polymers and Coatings at North Dakota State University. He moved to Eastern Michigan University in 1990 as Professor and Director of the National Science Foundation Industry/University Cooperative Research Center in Coatings. He served as Chair of the American Chemical Society Division of Polymeric Materials Science and Engineering.

Professor Jones is co-author of more than 200 publications and 30 U.S. patents and is co-author of the text and reference book Organic Coatings: Science and Technology. John Wiley & Sons published the second edition in 1999, and the third edition is in preparation.
