In its ongoing effort to become a resource and significant contributor to the professional visual artist, The Sam and Adele Golden FoundationSM for the Arts, Inc., is in the process of creating a “Gallery” on the foundation Web site. The Web site will feature remaining paintings from the foundation’s first silent auction. Twenty- nine recognized artists who are committed to helping the Golden Foundation grow donated paintings for the auction. The gallery will highlight the artists and their work and provide an opportunity for visitors to the site to purchase the paintings. Jean-Marc Golden, a member of the foundation board of directors has generously provided his Web designing skills and expertise to help make the Web gallery possible. We invite you to visit our sales gallery at: www.goldenfoundation.org.
During the first three years of accepting applications from visual artists, the GOLDEN Foundation processed hundreds of applications. The Selection Committee, consisting primarily of artists and art professionals of distinction reviewed several thousand works. They had the highest praise for the quality of the work that was submitted.
In an effort to grow the endowment of the Foundation, the board of directors agreed to offer grants to artists and arts organizations in alternate years. In the year 2003, grants were awarded to professional artists working in paint. Next year, 2004, grants will be awarded solely to cultural organizations that directly support visual artists. The deadline to receive proposals from organizations is October 1, 2004.
